Learning to receive help without scorekeeping
Camino story about accepting help from strangers—tape, food, and letting go of pride.

Receiving grace
Key moment: Independence was my armour; the Camino dented it kindly. Ankle twinged; stranger offered tape before I finished lying that I was fine.

Receiving tightened my throat—debt anxiety from childhood. She smiled off repayment. “Next pilgrim,” she said. Economy of passing kindness.
I practised saying yes to water, directions, sliced fruit. Each yes untrained my fear of owing.
Later I gave tape away twice; circle continued. Scorekeeping dissolved like sugar in tea.
Santiago approached with softer shoulders. Help is not defeat; it is choreography.
If offers arrive, practice receiving. Pride is heavy; tape is light.
