Shortcut through vineyards
Light Camino story: friends take a vineyard path, minor scrapes, joy on the Way.

Playful detour
Key moment: The official bend looked longer on the map; the vineyard row looked like a conspiracy of joy. We slid between vines like kids, packs catching leaves, rules waving from a distance.

A farmer shouted; we apologised in three languages. He softened, pointed to the real path, tossed us figs as fine. Mercy tastes sweet.
Thorns scratched shins; blood joined dirt in a pilgrim palette. We bandaged with comedy and tape.
Back on route, we lied slightly about our virtue—omitting the shortcut, highlighting the figs. Storytelling is editing; kindness is knowing what to keep.
That night we toasted with cheap wine, irony noted. Grapes completed their moral arc.
If you detour, own it with humour and respect for fields. Play is also pilgrimage when it harms nobody.
